Smart Keyword Research Techniques
I have decided to write this post after playing with keyword elite 2.0 for few hours. Perhaps it needs no repeatation that keyword elite 2.0 is nothing but a keyword research tool.
But what is keyword research and on based on which criteria you will do keyword research?
Let me explain you , one internet marketer basically do keyword research for three purpose-
[1] To do niche research
[2] To do Search Engine Optimization
[3] For pay per click campaigns.
For each purpose keyword research technique is different. What you will do to find a niche is different from what you should do for a pay per click campaign since pay per click involves money. Again in case of SEO the keyword research procedure is whole lot different.
Thank fully keyword elite 2.0 is made for all three purpose. Let me explain three KISS [keep it simple and stupid] criteria for all three keyword research goal.
[1] For niche research you will try to find hobby and problem keywords.
[2] For search engine optimization you will try to find keyword with less competition but substantial amount of monthly search count.
[3] For pay per click you will try to find brand name and buying keywords.
Now let me explain all three with examples.
Lets take the case of niche research. Suppose you want to do niche marketing after hearing the term ‘niche marketing’ for bazillion of times and how people are making ‘loots’ of money with niche marketing. And you are not an expert in any subject in this world and your dumb brain can not brainstorm any niche you will like to jump to make those fancy amount of money. So how you should take your first step?
From my experience people get lots of success in niche marketing targetting people with different of hobbies and people with problems [health or mental or lifestyle]. If you dont know what are the popular hobbies of people in this world head to wikipedia hobby page and list all the hobbies you can find. For physical and mental problems , see the problems facing by you, some one from your family or neighbor and so on.
Now pick few hobbies and problems from the list you have generated on first step and go to keyword elite 2.0 and use it to see what people are trying to know or get or want a cure for their hobbies/problems. In this step, try to evaluate three criterias-
a. Is the number of people trying for that niche is substantial, I will say anything about about >7000 search a month is good.
b. Are those people are in buying mood. If you create a product targeting these people will they pull their credit card to buy your product.
c.Is there any free resource or website where they can get the info or cure or product for free. If yes then give up , if no then go ahead.
Now , we take the case of search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is goldmine for few people like me. perhaps you know, i do better with it despite having Adwords Certified Professional Status and spending thousands of dollars a month with google adwords. What I do to make thousands of dollars a month with promoting clickbank/CPA product with search engine optimization?
Simple, I just target long tail keywords [after finding them using keyword research tool like keyword elite 2.0] and use web 2.0 properties to rank well in google.I am giving you a real life example for this purpose. There is a CPA product in Azoogle.com named Force Factor. This is a new Nitric oxide bodybuilding supplement which has a free trial and it was announced BodyBuilding Product of the year 2009. When I used keyword elite 2.0 [i got a beta copy almost 20 days ago] to find keywords to promote the product on google , i found 24 long tail keywords like ‘where i can buy force factor’, ‘website link for force factor free trial’, ‘force factor free trial’ etc and needless to say I dominated all 24 keywords within 2 days in google just throwing few web 2.0 profiles optimizing for those keywords and I am getting 5 to 6 sales a day [thats $200 a day automatically].
So, summary is, try to find 20+ long tail keywords [don't care if number of search is only 100 or <100 a month, since collectively you ae getting lots of free traffic from all keywords] and use web 2.0 properties to rank well for those keywords in google. That’s it.
Now, for pay per click campaigns your keyword research should be limited to three factors-
A. Brand names
B. Buying keywords
C. Problem keywords
Brand name means brand name. For example , if you are promoting fat loss products then popular list names of all popular fat loss products and get related keywords list of each keyword. Now make different ad group for each brand name.
Usually buying keywords are those keyword which have words like buy,discount,rebate,store,coupon etc. You have to seriously spend few careful minutes to get those keywords.
Problem keywords are those keywords which have words like cure, remove, get rid of, how to, permanent, within X days, within X hours [replace X with random number] etc.
